10 years ago, Alexandre van Gent, our CRO wrote a great article on “Why Our Industry Exists & Useful Tips.” From then to now, our role has evolved, but the foundation remains the same. Here’s an updated version.
The role of freight forwarders
Freight forwarders are an essential part of supply chains, offering more than just transportation; they are strategic partners who help businesses gain a competitive edge. Today, organizations increasingly rely on freight forwarders to navigate complex logistics challenges. In essence, freight forwarders turn logistical hurdles into strategic advantages. This has earned freight forwarders, and it’s counterparts, the title of “Architects of transportation.”
The Architects of transportation
Just as architects design every aspect of a building, including the use of materials and the precise measurements of each component, thinking of every detail from an idea, to a blueprint to the finished product, freight forwarders design and execute transport solutions while taking care of their client’s specific needs and accommodations.
Using their knowledge and experience, freight forwarders will think of possible problems and solutions before they begin to occur, providing options and alternatives to overcome any logistical problem.
The daily goals of a freight forwarder
Everyday, coming into work, a freight forwarder’s goal is to solve problems by translating a clients needs and desires into a final solution that both benefits them, and their client. Making sure that the goods arrive at the right requested time, in it’s original order and condition and at the most cost-effective route.
At Falcon International, we strive to offer peace of mind to our clients and to provide them with the option of trusting us to expertly manage these processes.
Why we exist
We exist for a simple reason; designing and executing solutions better than any other option outside of our industry. From the visible movement of goods to the behind the scenes logistics that make it possible, a freight forwarder and his entire arsenal of resources are behind it. Our expertise and resources are crucial in ensuring that every project from simple to complicated are completed efficiently.

Tip of the day; loyalty and customer service
In our industry, loyalty is a prized asset. Even though technology allows us to contact more people with less effort then it used to, the one thing that a client will always come back for is great customer service. Care about your client, care about your partners in the industry, care about what others think of you.
Here are a few ways to show that you care;
- Direct communication; aim for straightforward personal interactions and minimize automated responses and systems as much as possible.
- Be client-satisfaction focused; The priority should always be the client and their needs, not the profit you’ll gain or the time you’ll spend.
- Unity among the members of the company; Ensure that every team member embodies the company’s commitments and values.
