Dear Valued Clients,
We are pleased to inform you of significant updates regarding rail services that may impact your shipments. Recent decisions by the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) have led to a swift resolution of the recent labor disruptions affecting Canadian National Railway (CN) and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC).
Here’s a summary of the latest developments and what they mean for your logistics needs:
Federal Labour Board Decision
The Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) has ordered both Canadian National Railway (CN) and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) to resume operations and has imposed binding arbitration to resolve ongoing disputes. This decision follows significant work stoppages that impacted freight services and commutes across the country.
CN Service Resumption
In light of the CIRB’s ruling, CN has lifted all previous embargoes and is working diligently to restore full service. They have resumed handling all types of shipments, including temperature-controlled goods, and are focused on reestablishing a smooth supply chain.
CPKC Embargoes Lifted
Similarly, CPKC has rescinded all work stoppage-related embargoes effective immediately. They are committed to returning to normal operations and ensuring safe and efficient service.
